I apologize for the lack of updates. Finals ended this Friday so during that time I was really busy with studying and other schoolwork. However, now that winter break has started I'll be posting more often and hopefully finish up a few reviews I've been meaning to post!
Today I'll be reviewing another Etude House product, the Proof 10 Eye Primer. I used to think that primers were pointless, and saw them as an extra, unnecessary step. What do you need to prime your eyes for anyways? As someone who rarely used to use eye makeup, I didn't bother with any primers. However, it turns out they're pretty important if you're going to use eyeshadow. Not only will a primer improve the longevity of your eye makeup, it'll also improve the pigmentation of shadows. So let's see if this eye primer does what it's supposed to do, shall we?

The primer comes in a blue, cardboard box that has a foil effect. There are English descriptions, instructions, and etc. on one side of the box for those who can't read Korean. In my opinion the box is prettier than the actual product packaging, but that seems to be the case for quite a few Etude House products. On the bottom of the box you'll find the manufacture date of the product.
The primer comes in a plastic tube (?) that has the exact same shape as the Etude House Oh M'Eye Line eyeliners. It has a doe foot applicator which makes it really easy to apply.
This primer is scentless.

The primer has a somewhat pinkish-beige color that becomes transparent once blended out. The texture is thick, creamy, easy to blend, and not too sticky. However, make sure to only apply a thin layer though because it can leave a cast on your eyelid if there's too much. Plus you really only need a little bit!
I used two of the eyeshadows from the Etude House Fantastic Eyes palette (review here) to show how the primer enhances the pigmentation of your eyeshadows. The picture doesn't show it really well (once again, I'm sorry for the awful lighting OTL), but the color of the shadows are a lot more opaque when applied over a primer. For glitter shadows, the glitter also appears more densely packed, if that makes sense. Either way, this primer does a pretty good job in improving the pigmentation of eyeshadows, especially if they're sheer!
Whenever I used this primer underneath eyeshadows, I noticed that my eye makeup lasted much longer and the shadows wouldn't budge as easily. It also helped reduce creasing, and for glitter shadows, there were little to no fallouts when they were worn over this primer. Overall I would say that this is a pretty good primer, especially for its price! One thing I don't like about it though is how it expires 6 months after opening, and I doubt I'd be able to finish it within that time. However that seems to be the case for all eye primers. Oh well. *shrug* I haven't tried any other eye primers before though, so I can't really compare it to other ones. I know a lot of people have raved about Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion (which I'm sure everyone has heard about), but I'm satisfied enough with this cheaper, Etude House one. I would recommend this product to anyone.

It's almost Christmas~! Is anyone doing something special for Christmas this year? Going somewhere? For me, I'm not doing anything at all and will probably be relaxing this entire winter break. After finals ended all I wanted to do was to sleep the entire day, haha. Oh also, do any of you guys watch Pinocchio? I finally found time to watch it and I really like it so far! Definitely give it a try if you can! :) Plus, if you end up not liking it, it's not too big of a loss since it's so inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteI think it's definitely a doable time limit if you often wear eyeshadows :) If used on a day-to-day basis, you could probably finish it up before the expiration date! ^^
ReplyDeleteI have this primer too and I think it's really good. Expiration after six months doesn't seem so bad to me... you might not use 100% of the product up in that time, but after a while what's in the tube starts to get all gunky and filled with bacteria. Bleh!
